Environment

We are aware of our responsibility for our environment. For this reason, we document our water use, keep track of the areas we use and control our emissions. Important data on these can be found here.

The premises of ASSMANN Büromöbel GmbH und Co. KG  cover an area of around 7.4 hectares. The company also owns 3.4 hectares of near-natural areas and arable land close to the premises. These are located outside of designated nature conservation or protected landscape areas. The near-natural areas consist of meadows, woodland and water areas and thus provide a habitat for native animal and plant species. No IUCN Red List species are known to be present in these areas. These areas are to be left in a near-natural state in the long term. If necessary, parts of these areas can be used for operational expansions, e.g. for energy supply. In the case of any construction projects, the impact on biodiversity will be assessed and minimised as far as possible, and compensatory measures will be implemented where necessary.
At the site itself, emissions – particularly air and noise emissions – are generated by the local production facilities and the vehicle fleet. At the present time, the company's activities are not known to have any adverse impacts on biodiversity. If adverse impacts are identified, measures will be drawn up immediately.

In our supply chain, we place a particular focus on sourcing wood products from sustainable forestry, as demonstrated by our PEFC certification. Taking into account the EU Timber Regulation (EUTR) and the European Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) also helps to protect biodiversity through due diligence systems relating to the origin of timber. According to their self-disclosures and FSC and PEFC certificates, our suppliers source wood products from the EU, the UK and Turkey. This clearly shows that our suppliers promote sustainable forestry.
