Major order completed by ASSMANN at the Ruhr University

ASSMANN Büromöbel GmbH & Co. KG has completed an extraordinary order. A convoy measuring a total of 3.3 kilometres in length and made up of 202 lorries made its way from Melle to Bochum. Key statistics: From July to September, a total of 50 work days were spent delivering office furniture for a total of 3,000 workspaces at the Ruhr university in Bochum. For ASSMANN, it is the largest single order in almost 80 years of the family business’ history. “We are all very proud to have completed an order of this magnitude while offering the usual high level of quality,” states Managing Partner, Dirk Aßmann. Just in time for the new semester, the staff at Ruhr University can now move into their newly refurnished offices.

End-to-end ASSMANN order support 

In addition to producing and delivering office furniture systems, ASSMANN also provides project management services, as well as assembly of the desks, rolling containers, conference tables, and shelving. The personalised assembly within office spaces is completed by an assembly partner and managed on site by ASSMANN. By offering smooth execution of the large-scale order reaching a volume of around three million Euros, the Melle-based family business has underscored its expertise as a leading office furniture manufacturer. While executing the order, ASSMANN took on a central role, as all of the project scheduling and coordination with the companies involved was managed by the company.

Various furniture series, personalised room planning

What’s so special about the furniture planning? Almost every room looks different. The uni staff were asked about their personal needs for storage space and workspaces. This formed the basis for the specialist provider to plan a personalised furniture design for each office. All office spaces were furnished with desks and rolling containers. The design has been reduced to the essentials and stands out thanks to its varying frame versions and a modular structure for maximum flexibility. The cupboards in the “Allvia” product range and conference tables were installed. Allvia offered a multi-faceted storage concept for custom combinations of functional and comfortable elements. At the same time, it also allows for a variable room layout thanks to the use of cabinet configurations as free-standing or partition elements, or against the walls. The combination of office furniture series used created a concept that specifically addressed the demands of workspaces at the university.
