Basics in bestform – The new ASSMANN basic decors
Our Basic decors have long been among the most popular finishes—most ordered tables and wood furniture are crafted in a wood decor or uni-decor from this collection. To continue this success and align with modern design trends, we have completely revamped our decor collection. Outdated textures have been removed or thoroughly modernized, and we have expanded our range with seven carefully selected new shades that seamlessly blend contemporary design with high compatibility.
Timeless aesthetic meets authentic tactile quality – The new generation of basic decors
During the redesign of our Basic decors, we had a clear goal: to develop designs that are both timeless and modern, creating a positive and inviting atmosphere in any workplace environment. Whether in an open workspace, a cozy Work Café, or a meeting room—the new decors are highly versatile and integrate harmoniously into diverse color schemes and design concepts.
Special emphasis was placed on the surface texture: it has been refined to achieve a more authentic appearance. The new Basic decors now feel plusher, more matte, and distinctly more natural—for a design you can see and feel.
Rethinking the classics
As part of the redesign, our decor selection was extensively modernized; some decors were intentionally removed to make room for fresh, modern designs that better meet current stylistic demands.
It was important to us not to drop established favorites without replacement, but rather to develop modern alternatives with color experts. Where possible, tried-and-tested shades were reinterpreted in a contemporary style—for example, the shade “Kiesel” will now be available in a refreshed look under the name “Cashmere.”
All new decors feature updated print patterns, enhanced surface textures, and adjusted sheen levels across both wood and uni finishes. Color gradations have also been refined for a more harmonious overall appearance in modern workspaces.
Proven quality, enhanced function
In terms of functionality, our revamped Basic decors continue to impress: high scratch resistance and easy-care surfaces remain a hallmark of both wood and uni decors. Existing certifications also remain valid and naturally apply to the new variants. This way, we combine design evolution with the trusted quality you rely on.
Find your match – Versatility that wins
Initial feedback from our customers on the four new wood optics—“Oak Crema,” “Oak Honey,” “Oak Nougat,” and “Walnut”—as well as the three uni-decor colors “Cashmere,” “Graphite Grey,” and “Terra Brown” shows clearly: the evolution hits the mark.
Project Manager Hannes Hartmann adds: “I find the Walnut wood finish very inspiring—it brings an elegant depth that visually enhances many areas. Terra Brown feels warm and elegant. But I’m especially excited by the new combination options: Walnut with Graphite Grey is my personal favorite—stylish, modern, and absolutely timeless. With its design diversity and high compatibility, the new decors meet every design requirement in the living, kitchen, and office furniture sectors—and do so more flexibly than ever.”

One thing is clear: the importance of high-quality surfaces is growing—not just in living spaces, but especially in offices. Product Manager Hannes Hartmann sums it up: “Surfaces will play an even greater role in the future—not only visually but also tactilely. They shape the atmosphere, support well‑being, and contribute to the design identity of modern work environments.” Natural-looking, true-to-nature materials are setting new standards.
And the development continues: we are already working on new concepts and collections beyond the Basic line to reach the next level of modern surface design across our full product range.
