My 'Dynamic Workplace'

Preisverleihung "Dynmic Workplace"

Entries flood in for VfA student competition

Last year the Vereinigung freischaffender Architekten (VfA) – Association of Independent Architects – called on Generation Y to come up with their own answer to the question of how they want to work in the future. The 2016/2017 student competition was named 'Dynamic Workplace'. Nineteen projects were submitted by architecture students from various universities before the late-February deadline – all with very different approaches to the question of how their very own 'Dynamic Workplace' should look.

Günter Osterhaus, Head of Planning and Project Management at ASSMANN, and the jury, chaired by Matthias Burkart (VfA Baden-Württemberg), selected the three winners, whose efforts were rewarded with 10,000 euros in prize money offered by the firm JUNG and competitionline. The awards ceremony took place during the JUNG Architecture Conference in Frankfurt.

And the winners are

1st prize: Janina Sieber and Nick Förster from the University of Applied Sciences for their project, which they named 'Travaillez jamais!'

1st prize: Lisa-Marie Schwuchow and Pia Gesenhues from the University of Hanover for their design 'Productive Workplace'

3rd prize: Johanna Lederer from the University of Stuttgart for her project 'Movere'

The designs focused on themes such as the new geographical relationships between communication and work, and the densification and upgrading of existing industrial zones. Another design was a building complex that could create additional space as required. The projects shared the fundamental idea that home life, work and leisure will be increasingly interconnected in the future. To find out more, visit
