Assmann 2009 Strategy
Whilst others seem to have adopted a "wait and see" approach over recent months with regard to the economic climate, Assmann is making a proactive start to 2009. A targeted package of measures in the product and sales sector is aimed at providing a significant stimulus for market development.
The Melle-based furniture manufacturer hopes to build on its leading position in the competitively priced market sector with its new generation of desks. “The three new desk systems – Rondana, Canvaro and Antaro – represent a real benchmark in the office furniture sector with regard to visual appearance, technology and price/performance ratio,” said Bernd Menke, Sales & Marketing Director. He went on to explain that Assmann was therefore confident that it can offer its partners additional market opportunities in the current difficult economic climate. The new desk generation was introduced to the public at the latest Orgatec trade show and will be available on the market from March. The company is also investing in its export business. An even greater focus will be placed on Great Britain, Russia and the Benelux countries where the company has now set up its own sales teams.
“We are making an investment in the upgrading of our product range and the continued expansion of our export business as part of our long-term corporate strategy,” Dirk Aßmann, Managing Director, explained. “For the 2009 financial year, Assmann is working on various case scenarios, which represent the current unsettled market environment,” Menke confirmed. The company’s management believes it is well equipped to deal with the global economic crisis and is ruling out price and rates wars, believing that these will not achieve results but leading only to the short-term utilisation of production capacity.
